TITLE Enterprise Architecture: A Practical Guide

UM LEVEL H - Higher Level

MQF LEVEL 6

ECTS CREDITS 4

DEPARTMENT Centre for the Liberal Arts and Sciences

DESCRIPTION Enterprise architecture is the discipline of analyzing/modifying computer systems to using a set of guidelines derived from industry experience by top blue chip companies.

The Unit will provide an introduction of TOGAF® (www.opengroup.org) as the emerging standard for Enterprise Architecture in the industry. Here we will present the base components including:
- Architectural Development Method (ADM) model for requirements management.
- Enterprise Continuum for transformation from abstract concepts to concrete actions.
- The Architecture Repository.
- Deliverables, Artifacts and building blocks.

The Unit will then provide a workshop setup whereby a set of scenarios will be presented to the attendees for evaluation and application of the theory learned. As part of the workshops the attendees will be encouraged to provide scenarios that they face in the industry and apply the theory learned and experience learned through the workshops onto the scenarios put forward.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

- The basic concepts of Enterprise Architecture and TOGAF
- Core concepts of TOGAF
- Key terminology of TOGAF
